“She Deserved To Lose Her Job”: Self-Described Black Supremacist Sacked for “Racist” Comments Regarding White People

A Texas elementary school has announced the firing of a teacher for “racist” comments on social media.

Alarming, Racist Statements

The event occurred in the Mesquite Independent School District in Mesquite, a suburban city east of Dallas. The district posted a statement on X, formerly known as Twitter, announcing that a teacher had been let go from Thompson Elementary School for making “alarming, racist statements” online.

An Immediate Investigation

The district’s statement read: “At approximately 4 p.m. yesterday, Mesquite ISD became aware of a series of alarming, racist statements posted to the X account of a teacher at Thompson Elementary. Upon learning of this situation, our Personnel staff began an immediate investigation.”

The statement continued: “As of this morning, the employee is no longer a part of the Mesquite ISD organization and is not eligible for rehire. Due to privacy restrictions, Mesquite ISD cannot comment on the details of Personnel matters. Nevertheless, the highly offensive statements posted to her X account do not reflect the values and standards of Mesquite ISD and the district condemns them in the strongest terms.”

A Black Supremacist

The account of the teacher has since been deleted. Regardless, some of her posts have been collected and published by various online outlets. They also shared a screenshot of her bio, in which she described herself as a “Black supremacist.” It’s unclear whether or not this was intended to be satire. In one post, the teacher expressed shock regarding her sister dating a White person. It read: “Like, I’m baffled seeing a White man in my house. I can’t believe it! I’m so mad right now! But I also don’t want to cause a scene and embarrass her!”

She Didn’t Wish Harm on White People

In another post, the teacher claimed that X users had identified her workplace and that the school district had asked that she delete the post that was brought to their attention. She went on to say that she was also told she wouldn’t be fired since she “did not directly wish harm on all White people.” She alleged she’d been told to watch what she posts in the future.

Responding as Quickly as Possible

Speaking to Newsweek, a representative of Mesquite ISD could neither confirm nor deny that the teacher had been told what she claimed. They did, however, say that nobody condoned her statements and that they acted as quickly as they could to address the situation.

Online Commenters Were Appalled

The majority of online commenters were appalled by the teacher’s posts. “As a Black person, I hate these people. We want equality, not supremacy,” one person wrote. “Same thing I always say,” another replied. “Being Black does not give you a pass to be a supremacist,” a third said.

Racism vs Prejudice

Some online commenters, in a way, defended the teacher. One person wrote: “I’m not condoning what she said. It’s all horrible. But it’s not racism; it’s prejudice. Racism is structural. For it to be racism, the person with the bigoted view has to be of the group that holds power in society. Again, I’m not saying what she said was okay. It was prejudice against White people and it was bigoted. But it wasn’t racism.”

Double Standards in Texas

Some online commenters called out double standards in Texas, a state known for anti-Black racism. One person wrote: “This is in Texas so the only reason she got any attention was because she was the wrong [kind] of supremacist. Not saying what she did was right. It’s all wrong. But seeing as Texas is basically a White supremacist state and nothing ever happens to them, [it] seems fishy the Black woman gets called out.”

Conservatives and Censorship

“Good! She deserved to lose her job. Vile posts,” one person wrote. “I bet you’d be crying ‘censorship’ if she was a racist White teacher getting fired,” another hit back. “I find it interesting that conservatives, the very people claiming they’re being censored when they face the consequences of their bigotry, are applauding this,” another said.

White People Need to Get Some Real Problems

A fair few Black commenters were upset by the response from, for the most part, White individuals. One person wrote: “What the woman [posted] was corny at best. White people really want her head on a pike for no reason. In the same country, y’all are lynching Black people and being racist to our children. Just yesterday, I saw four White men from Alabama attack a Black man on the news just for docking a boat. But yeah, let’s run with this ‘Black people are the real racists’ [thing]. You people need to get some real problems and stop acting like you’re victims of some racial hazing because you saw a singular [post] about a Black woman not wanting her sister to date a White man. Most Black people marry and date amongst ourselves for a reason. White people haven’t exactly been kind to us.”

A Potential Satire Account

Some online commenters discussed the possibility of the teacher’s account being satire. “White people not understanding the whole ‘Black supremacist’ parody is hilarious,” one person wrote. “Did nobody stop to think about whether or not the account is satire? That maybe she was making a point? About White supremacists?” another suggested.
