The TikToker Is Relatively Successful
Known as Kylen Suttner, the TikToker currently has over three million likes and over 500,000 followers. Moreover, she has over 100,000 followers on Instagram. She mostly posts about family and fitness.
The Comments Were Made by Another Woman
Kylen opens the video with an AI voiceover. “I can’t believe I got this on video,” it says. The clip goes on to show the TikToker preparing to use gym equipment. Another woman can be heard asking Kylen if she really thinks she “can walk around the gym wearing that.” “What?” Kylen replies in a perplexed tone.
The Woman Pushed
“Your top. Do you really think you can walk around the gym wearing that? Your ***** are hanging out,” the woman continues. Kylen is visibly shocked and confused.
The TikToker’s Chest Was Not “Hanging Out”
In the video, Kylen is wearing a sports bar and cycle shorts – entirely normal gym gear. The sports bra is a little lower cut than some, but “hanging out” is clearly a gross exaggeration.
The Woman Wouldn’t Let It Go
“We’re in a public place. Can you be respectful?” the woman asks a clearly horrified Kylen. The TikToker expresses her shock before the woman continues, stating that they’re in a public place and sarcastically asking Kylen if she can see everyone around them. She reiterates that “no one wants to look at” the TikToker’s “***** hanging out.”
Kylen Didn’t Hide Her Feelings
“I’m fine, thank you,” the TikToker replies, her tone filled with disdain. The woman pushes back, though. “I don’t think you are. Put a shirt on next time,” she concludes.
Kylen’s Commenters Were Horrified
“My jaw dropped. This is wild that a woman would say this to another woman,” one viewer exclaimed. “Would’ve been throwing fists. Not okay,” another said.
Some Were Skeptical
Kylen managing to catch the interaction on camera is, undeniably, a huge coincidence. It’s entirely possible, given that she’s a TikToker, but the coincidence was just a bit too big for some commenters. “There’s no way this was a real interaction,” one person said, gaining over 7,000 likes.
Others Accused the Stranger of Jealousy and Insecurity
Commenters were quick to try and find a reason for the woman’s behavior, promptly pointing to jealousy and insecurity. “She’s probably jealous. Your top was fine. It’s fitness gym attire, and you look beautiful,” one person commented. “You look fine. Some people just want to feel important by saying something inappropriate,” another added.
Kylen Was Interviewed by Inside Edition
When asked how the interaction made her feel, Kylen said: “Just shocked, honestly. And, looking back, I’m just really mad that she thinks that she has the right to say that.” She goes on to explain that a lot of people have theorized that the woman’s boyfriend could’ve been staring at her, which might have “triggered” the woman. “I don’t know. I really don’t know. It’s a normal top that anybody would wear,” Kylen concludes.
Inside Edition Commenters Had Mixed Views
“If the top makes you feel more comfortable, then wear it, but I also don’t understand the need to wear certain things to the gym. That’s just my opinion, but I would never confront someone or make them uncomfy for wearing what they choose,” one viewer said. “She loves the attention, don’t be fooled,” another added. Not all comments were negative, with another person commenting that Kylen handled the situation with “such class.”
Kylen Feels She Was “Singled Out”
“I don’t know why she singled me out because there were other people in the gym wearing way more revealing clothes,” the TikToker told South West News Service. She went on to express that she won’t let the bad experience stop her from wearing what she wants.
This Is Nothing New
Women being told their gym gear is inappropriate is nothing new. A Google search of “woman told to cover up at the gym” will bring up a seemingly endless supply of articles detailing similar instances. In almost all cases, the women are wearing entirely normal fitness gear. What makes Kylen’s case unusual is that she was told to cover up by another woman.
It Doesn’t Just Happen in Gyms
Numerous stories can be found online about women being told to cover up in various environments, including on planes, in theme parks, and in malls. Another TikToker, known as Allysha, recently told her audience that she’s often told to cover up at the beach. Allysha puts this down to her melons being larger than average.
