“She’s the Customer We All Hate”: Lauren Boebert Escorted Out of “Beetlejuice” Performance After Causing a Disturbance

U.S. Representative Lauren Boebert found herself in an interesting situation during a performance of the “Beetlejuice” musical in downtown Denver. Accused of disruptive behavior, including vaping, singing, recording, and causing a disturbance, Boebert and another person were escorted out of the theater.

Accusations and Intermission Warning

Venue officials from Denver Arts & Venues issued an incident report describing how two patrons, one of whom was later confirmed as Lauren Boebert, were asked to leave the city-owned Buell Theatre during the touring Broadway show. Prior to their removal, they received a warning during the intermission regarding their behavior, which had already prompted three complaints from fellow theatergoers.

Unpermitted Recording and Confrontation

The incident report revealed that approximately five minutes into the second act, security officials received yet another complaint about the patrons – this time for being loud and recording the performance. Taking pictures or recording is strictly prohibited during shows. Ushers informed them they needed to leave but the patrons refused, resulting in the threat of police involvement.

An Explanation From Boebert’s Campaign

Drew Sexton, Lauren Boebert’s campaign manager, denied the allegation of vaping during the show. Boebert did admit to using her cellphone to take a picture of the performance, unaware of the no-photography rule. Sexton humorously acknowledged Boebert’s enjoyment of the show, inviting others to experience it but with a gentle reminder to leave their phones outside the venue.

Resistance and Police Intervention

After being escorted out of the theater and reaching the building’s vestibule, the patrons resisted leaving and made statements such as “do you know who I am” and “I am on the board.” Police were called and they remained in the Buell’s lobby until Boebert and her companion eventually departed.

Boebert’s History of Incidents

This incident isn’t the first time Boebert has found herself in trouble. She’d been arrested and summoned at least four times prior to her 2020 election to Congress. Moreover, she attempted to bypass metal detectors at the Capitol in her early days as a congresswoman.

Family Troubles and Divorce Announcement

Boebert’s family also made headlines when her husband reportedly threatened their neighbors during what the Garfield County sheriff described as a neighborhood disturbance. Although no arrests were made, the incident added to her public scrutiny. In May, Boebert announced her divorce, marking a personal transition during her second term in Congress.

Political Future Amidst Controversy

Despite these incidents, Boebert remains active in politics. She’s running in 2024 to represent the Third Congressional District. She’s undoubtedly a controversial figure, with her avid support for the Second Amendment attracting both criticism and support.

Looking to the Future

The incident at the “Beetlejuice” musical in Denver serves as another chapter in the controversial career of Boebert. As she continues her political journey, her actions and behavior will continue to be closely scrutinized, leaving many to wonder how these incidents will impact her future in public office.

The Internet’s Response

News of the theater incident was shared across the internet and people, for the most part, were highly critical of Boebert. One person wrote: “Funniest part about her at that show is that it’s got pretty liberal writing to it and makes fun of Republicans. Saw it in Cleveland. Do highly suggest it if you get the chance.”

A Liberal Joke

Replying to the aforementioned individual, another commenter said: “Yeah, we had one person on my show in NYC booing a liberal joke and Alex – Beetlejuice – gave him the finger. It was hilarious. I was expecting something like this and not just general cavewoman behavior.”

Texting During Shows and Movies

Others speculated about Boebert’s interpretation of theater etiquette. One person said: “She said she didn’t know pictures weren’t allowed. I don’t know about other theaters but every production I’ve been to in the last couple of years has some sort of announcement about no photos [and] silencing your cell phone. I bet she’s the one that sits in the middle of the movie theater [and] spends the whole time on her phone texting.”

A fair few commenters made jokes about Donald Trump. “Did she try to summon Trump?” one individual said. “Orangejuice! Orangejuice! Orangejuice!” another replied, referencing the show in question and gaining over 300 likes.

Bobert as a Customer

Others discussed what Boebert is, in their view, probably like as a customer. “She’s the customer we all hate. Wouldn’t leave until they threatened to get the police,” one person said. “I’m a loudmouthed buffoon who loves to get [very drunk]. In my 36 years on Earth, I’ve never once been escorted from a venue.”

A Plea to the Citizens of Colorado

Some people called on Colorado citizens to vote Boebert out. One person wrote: “Come on, Colorado. She has done nothing to help your citizens or state and she’s only in headlines with private embarrassing problems. Rock this vote and get someone that can either play the game or help the citizens of Colorado.”

Scared to Lose

Others speculated about Boebert’s intentions. One person said: “Lauren Boebert and incident reports, name a more iconic duo. Also, why was she at this musical? Or a musical at all? Probably just to make headlines because she is actually scared to lose next time.”

Liberals and Cities

Some people discussed the words and behavior of right-wing politicians in regard to cities. One individual said: “They love to make big cities the boogeymen and go on Fox News about how rural America should hate liberal city dwellers, yet they are always hanging out in the big cities.”

Criticizing the Voters in Colorado

Others criticized voters in Colorado. “Again, kudos to the Colorado voters who thought it was a good idea to have this numbskull represent them in Congress,” one person said. “Twice,” another replied. “Some of the parts of Colorado that voted for her aren’t exactly known for their education,” a third added.

An Avid Theatergoer

Another person said: “As an avid theatergoer, there’s one thing everyone must know – do not [mess] with the ushers. They will absolutely tussle with you. They will shine that bright flashlight in your eyes [and] kick [you] out. They will call the cops. You will absolutely not disrupt the show. They take that role seriously and I love them for it.”
