“It Would Be Funny if He Weren’t Trying to Be a Dictator”: Trump Has Online Outburst After True Size of His Tower Is Revealed

Criminal defendant Donald Trump’s recent outburst over Forbes’ allegations regarding the true size of his New York office buildings has attracted a lot of attention. Trump’s criticisms of Forbes and its editor, as well as his accusations of cooperation with the New York Attorney General Letitia James, have fueled controversy and speculation.

Taking to Social Media

In response to Forbes‘ claims, Trump took to social media to launch a scathing attack on the magazine and its editor, Dan Alexander. The former president accused Forbes of publishing false information about him and demanded a full apology.

Moreover, the criminal defendant targeted New York Attorney General Letitia James, branding her “racist and incompetent.” He also used the term “peekaboo” to describe her, raising questions about its implications given how similar it sounds to a racial slur.

Trump wrote: “I hereby demand a full apology from the failing Forbes and their third-rate psycho writer, Dan Alexander, for the many false and libelous articles they have written about me and for the cooperation they have given to the racist and incompetent A.G. of New York State, Peekaboo James.”

Trump also accused Forbes of being controlled by the Chinese government and alleged that it was aligned against the MAGA movement. The criminal defendant suggested it was actively working to undermine his reputation.

Not as Rich as He Boasts

Alexander had recently published an update on Trump’s wealth, directly challenging the former president’s net worth claims. He placed his worth at $2.6 billion and said Trump is “nowhere near as rich as he boasts, nor as poor as some critics claim.”

Contradictory Testimony in the Trial

During New York Attorney General Letitia James’ civil fraud trial, Allen Weisselberg – the former CFO of the Trump Organization – provided testimony that conflicted with Trump’s claims. Weisselberg stated that the Trump Tower apartment measured approximately 10,000 square feet, not the 30,000 square feet indicated in the former president’s financial records.

Documents and a Recording

In an article about Trump’s finances, Alexander said: “New York state is suing Donald Trump and his business for engaging in financial fraud. Forbes has documents and a recording of Trump talking about 40 Wall Street, the first property cited in the attorney general’s press conference, that seem to back up her claims.”

The Center of the Alleged Deceit

The article continued: “Two Forbes journalists received subpoenas last year from the Manhattan district attorney and had to testify before a grand jury to confirm information in two articles detailing Trump’s shenanigans. Forbes, however, has records those prosecutors do not, including notes from interviews over the years and a 2015 audio recording that places Trump smack in the center of the alleged deceit.”

Forbes Stands by Its Reporting

Despite Trump’s claims about Forbes, the magazine defended its reporting and highlighted its commitment to fact-checking. A Forbes spokesperson reiterated their dedication to accuracy and invited Donald Trump to identify any false statements in their articles.

The Internet’s Response

News of Trump’s social media hissy fit was shared across the internet and, for the most part, online commenters mocked and criticized him. One person wrote: “Trump is being exposed for what he is – liar, cheat, repeat offender, liar, corrupt, criminal, liar, grifter, sex offender, liar.”

The World Is in Chaos

Others condemned Trump for using social media to throw tantrums rather than address important issues: “The world is in utter chaos and this is what a prior sitting president uses a platform for instead of good. There is a reason he is no longer president. Thank God!”

An Immature Toddler

Plenty of people compared the former president to a child. One individual said: “You can tell Trump is running scared because his whining is getting louder and more childish. How can grown adult Republicans stand behind such an immature toddler?”

Donald Trump’s Humiliation

Another commenter wrote: “If Trump thought he had a case for libel, he would sue. He knows the article is truthful and he is humiliated by the truth. Has to puff up in indignation for his audience.”

A Life of Lies

Others put Trump’s anger down to the fact that he’s seemingly gone his whole life without being fact-checked: “Donald Trump has spent his entire life lying about everything to try and make himself sound important. For most of his life, nobody fact-checked him. Then he decided to run for president and he found out that people will fact check him. Now, his lies about his businesses are being brought out into the light and people are finding out about that too.”

Making Fun of Trump’s Tantrum

Some people made fun of Trump’s tantrum. “I love how he throws ‘hereby’ into his nonsense occasionally. Cracks me up every time,” one person said. “My favorite is when he tries to use ‘the likes of which have never been seen before’ but it always falls flat on delivery because he tries to mix it into his usual word salad. I think he thinks that’s the smartest phrase he’s ever heard – or understood – in his life,” another replied.

Trump’s Silly Antics

Another person said: “If this guy hadn’t already done lasting damage to our country and the government running it, I’d laugh a lot more at his silly antics. The antics just don’t seem silly when you factor in how dangerously close to an authoritarian regime we are.”

Trump Is Unbelievable

Others pointed out that the former president’s priorities seem to be in the wrong place: “So he’s not upset he is in trouble, he’s upset because now the world knows his penthouse isn’t as big as he said it was? This guy is unbelievable.”

Trump Loves a Tantrum

Another commenter wrote: “Trump must have a mental age of about four, honestly. If something doesn’t go his way, he has a tantrum. If someone criticizes him, he has a tantrum. It would be funny if he weren’t trying to be a dictator.”
