Carlson pointed out the various attempts to hold Trump accountable for his attitudes and crimes. He said: “They impeached him twice on ridiculous pretenses. If you begin with criticism, then you go to protest, then you go to impeachment, now you go to indictment and none of them work, what’s next? I mean, you know, graph it out, man! We’re speeding toward assassination, obviously, and no one will say that.”
Worries Over Trump’s Safety
This isn’t the first time Carlson has discussed the topic of potential harm to Trump. In an interview with the former president, he questioned whether there were concerns about assassination attempts. “They started with protests against you, massive protests, organized protests by the left, and then it moved to impeachment twice and now indictment. I mean, the next stage is violence. Are you worried that they’re going to try and kill you?” he asked.

Recent events, such as the former president’s absence from the first GOP primary debate and his arrest, caused a notable drop in his poll numbers. While Trump remains a frontrunner, his support has declined, with other Republican figures like Ron DeSantis, Mike Pence, and Chris Christie gaining ground. According to Real Clear Politics, Trump currently sits at around 50% in the polls.

Some people explained why, aside from the moral and ethical implications, no one on the left would ever try to murder the former president. “Assassinating Trump would just turn him into a martyr. No sane person would try. We’d rather watch him rot in jail as an example to others,” one person said.

Plenty of people found Carlson’s claims to be deeply concerning. “Republicans like to project, which means they are the ones who have plans to murder us. Republican politicians and right-wing media have been spreading hatred, racism, bigotry, and violence against minorities and Democrats for years. It’s very clear that they want to radicalize their supporters into murdering everyone they hate. This isn’t hyperbole. There is mountains of evidence,” one person wrote, linking 10 sources.
Trump’s Fans Agreed With Carlson
Despite the criticism from the majority, Trump’s fans couldn’t be pulled out of their delusional state. One individual wrote: “Tucker is speaking nothing but the truth. Assassination is exactly what the left will turn to when Trump is found innocent.”
