“MTG” is a new book written by Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene. In it, she alleges that Republicans and Democrats behaved very differently in response to the Jan 6th Capitol attack. According to her, Republicans were armed with concealed weapons, “ready to be good guys with guns,” while Democrats “were simply going crazy.”
A Character in the Media
Greene told reporters that she’s excited for her book to be released because both her supporters and critics will be able to hear directly from her instead of from the “character” the media portrays.
Twisting Greene’s Words
Greene said: “Since I’ve entered the scene in politics and in the House of Representatives, everyone has taken my words and twisted them and basically created a character of me and presented it, you know, on the main stage to the American people and said what my words really mean. In this book, I’m telling you exactly what my words are.”
Greene’s Bold Claims
In her book, Greene discusses several stories from her time in Congress, including her experience on January the 6th 2021. An excerpt reads: “From the moment we became aware of the riots, the difference between the parties became crystal clear. While the Democrats reacted in weakness and cowardice, our nation’s Republican members of Congress earned my respect by responding with courage. Many of the Democrats were simply going crazy!”
Supporters of the Second Amendment
The excerpt continues: “As supporters of the Second Amendment of the Constitution, some members carried concealed weapons and were ready to be good guys with guns, defending themselves and others if need be.”
Protecting the House
In the excerpt, Greene goes on to say Republicans were going to “protect” the House: “Some created weapons from items around them, like the stand from a hand sanitizer dispenser or broken-off pieces of furniture on the House floor. They were ready to protect us and our House.”
Representative Clay Higgins
Greene goes on to write that Representative Clay Higgins said he’d “stick right by her side” during the attack. “He was one of the armed Republican members of Congress exercising his Second Amendment rights that day. Clay is a former member of law enforcement and I trust men like him to protect themselves – and others – responsibly with a gun,” she writes.
Defending Jan 6th Insurrectionists
Greene previously defended the Jan 6th insurrectionists facing federal charges. She also claimed the attack wasn’t carried out by Trump supporters. Instead, she said “antifa” was to blame – an umbrella term, short for “anti-fascism,” used to describe anyone who opposes fascist ideologies.
A Slap in the Face
Greene also claimed that if she’d been behind the riot, she “would have won.” She was heavily criticized for the remark and, in response, said it was sarcasm. The Biden administration condemned her response and called it a “slap in the face.”
Against America’s Values
A White House statement said: “It goes against our fundamental values as a country for a member of Congress to wish that the carnage of January 6th had been even worse and to boast that she would have succeeded in an armed insurrection against the United States government.”
Winning Team Books
“MTG” will be published by Winning Team Books, which was co-founded by Donald Trump Jr. The publishing company seeks to release books by “authors who represent the silent majority, America first patriots, and liberty-minded readers.”
The Perfect Fit
According to Greene, “MTG” will be sold at some Trump rallies and will also be available at major retailers. She also told reporters that the book’s presence at MAGA rallies “seemed like the perfect fit.”
