Known then by her maiden name, Melania Knauss, she began accompanying Donald to numerous high-profile events. Donald and Melania’s bond grew stronger and more public.

Trump allegedly spoke about a “leggy brunette,” implying that Melania’s time might be limited. Romney claims this caught him off guard. “When I drop her, the phone is gonna ring off the hook. Every guy in New York wants to go out with her,” Trump allegedly shared, leaving the older Romney bewildered.

Not Just One Revelation

She reportedly floated the idea of joining forces with Romney for a Presidential face-off against Trump in 2020. Apparently, she felt the need to “save the country” from Trump’s reign.

Romeny also openly shares his dreams of confronting Trump on a debate stage. However, he argued it wasn’t just about political disagreements. Romney confessed that he wanted to counteract what he saw as Trump’s outlandish claims. He fantasized about calling Trump out, claiming he wanted to tell him, “That’s stupid. Why are you saying that?”

A Burning Question

He also discussed Trump’s puzzling bleach remark during the pandemic. “Every time Donald Trump makes a strong statement [during our theoretical debate], I’d say, ‘Remind me again about the Clorox.” He claimed that “every now and then, I would cough and go, ‘Clorox.'” Romney was astonished at how such a statement could fade into the background.

A Bitter Taste

These allegations sparked plenty of discussion on the internet. One user didn’t hold back their disappointment regarding Trump’s bleach comment, stating, “The guy should have drank the bleach like he wanted to. Very disappointed this didn’t happen.” Another person observed Romney’s reflections in the book, commenting, “The things Mitt says sound like they’re 100 percent on brand for Trump.”

A Reluctant Respect for Romney

One individual candidly mentioned their political stance: “Romney is not someone I’d ever vote for, but he also doesn’t seem like a filthy liar.” Others agreed, saying, “You know it’s bad when Romney and Cheney are ousted by their own party for not being Republican enough. I wouldn’t vote for either of them, but at least they call out Maga for what it is.”

Melania’s Choice

Some believe that Melania was well aware of what she was getting into, as one person said, “Don’t fret everyone, Melania knew the game when she signed up for it.” Another user speculated, “Oh heck, that’s not the worst thing that flaming idiot said about her inside ten minutes, is it?… WHY is she still with him, and PLEASE no one say ‘money’ because we all know he doesn’t have much.”

Comparing Characters

Finally, when comparing Romney and Trump, one user said, “I know which of the two is more honest and trustworthy, unfortunately, it’s the one that insulted 47% of Americans. But he’s still better than Trump.” Another user shared the same idea, saying, “Romney went from the worst to best Republican in record time.”
