Earlier in the year, a report from the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) indicated that Donald Trump’s businesses made hundreds of millions from foreign countries while he was in office.

While in office, Trump’s businesses reportedly made around $160 million from dealings outside of the U.S. The report analyzed transactions made to the criminal defendant’s empire from foreign governments.
Conflicts of Interest
Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington exists to investigate political corruption. According to them, Trump’s financial data indicated that he amassed a huge amount of money from foreign countries. Notably, many of the countries were ones in which he had rather large conflicts of interest.
The Specific Numbers
A significant portion of the earnings came from Trump’s Aberdeen and Turnberry golf course and a hotel in Vancouver. They earned him $58 million and $36.5 million respectively. However, he also made $24.4 million in Ireland, $9.7 million in Indonesia, and $9.6 million in India.
The Report’s Words
The report said: “Throughout his time in office, President Trump, his family, and his Republican allies repeatedly assured the public that his refusal to divest from his businesses wouldn’t lead to any conflicts of interest. When it came to foreign conflicts of interest, Trump and his company pledged to pause foreign business. They did not.”
A Conflict of Interest
In 2018, Trump allegedly asked for the British Open to be moved to his golf course in Scotland, a clear example of a conflict of interest. According to a 2019 report, there were numerous incidents involving the former president that were similar to this.
A Different Report
In 2021, a different report was released regarding the money Trump made while in office. It alleged that the former president made $1.6 billion in outside revenue and income. It’s important to note that the report said it was difficult to know precisely how much Trump took home because of the structure of his business.

Disregarding the Constitution

The Orange Scrounge
Others alleged that Trump only became POTUS to make money. One commenter wrote: “The only reason the orange scourge ran for office was to enrich himself. He would have sold the Liberty Bell for scrap if he thought he could get away with it.”
Profit for the Criminal Syndicate
One individual was much harsher with their words. They commented: “Criminal, traitorous scum sold our country’s secrets and cavorted with enemy superpowers. The man was, and is, a joke! Profit for the criminal syndicate is the goal.”
A Classic Fascist Tactic
Others pointed out that Trump has seemingly made a habit of accusing others of doing things he himself has blatantly done. “People need to realize that if Trump accuses others of something, it is because he has already done it and is trying to deflect attention,” one individual wrote.
All Politicians are the Same
One person called for people to realize that all politicians are the same. They said: “Biden, Trump – just two sides of the same coin. Democrats, Republicans – just two sides of the same coin. They are all rich men who keep us fighting each other so they can cheat, steal, and abuse the poor and middle-class. Wake up, America. Time for a revolution.”
Criminally Traitorous Ways
Another commenter said: “It is just another example of Trump’s criminally traitorous ways. It is laughable that MAGAs point to the couple of paltry salary donations that Trump made while in office. Those donations paled in comparison to the millions of dollars that he steered unethically to his own pockets while president.”
Using Taxpayer Money
Others speculated about how Trump funded international trips while in office. One person said: “Trump went to those countries using taxpayer money and conducted personal business on those trips. Compared to Trump, what Hunter did is nothing more than petty larceny.”
Breaking the Spell
