Others didn’t understand why anyone would support the proposed cuts. One person said: “I do not get it. This is all part of Trump’s agenda. So why are people willing to drink bad water and breathe dirtier air? Do we really want to allow these changes so the rich can continue to profit while they continue poisoning our air and water? Even worse, they realize and allow it for their own children.”

Right-wingers held a different view. “Bigoted, lying, Marxist propaganda,” one individual wrote. “Please define ‘Marxist.’ I’m betting we aren’t even close,” another person replied. The original commenter was unable to provide a definition.

Some commenters talked about how true Christians would never be able to hold or support far-right values. One person wrote: “Christians cannot be Christians and be MAGA at the same time as you cannot serve two masters. MAGA serves Trump. Facts.”

Others shared similar opinions to the aforementioned individual. “It is impossible for a Christian to be a MAGA Republican, as well as impossible for a MAGA to be a Christian. The ideologies clash,” another person said.

Some people discussed the Republican Party as a whole. One person wrote: “Why can’t people understand what the Republican Party is all about? We keep talking about it and yet so many people are in denial that the Republican Party is essentially working against them and their interests. The Republican Party is about keeping a small, tight circle of very wealthy elites, special interests, and corporations as the ultimate power brokers ruling over all of our lives in this country.”
