“There Needs to Be a Formal Deprogramming of the Cult Members”: Hillary Clinton Labels MAGA Supporters as ‘Cult Members’ in Interview

Hillary Clinton, the former secretary of state, asserts that in order to purge Donald Trump’s followers of their “negative” and “nasty” politics, they must be “systematically deprogrammed” as members of a MAGA “cult.”

The former first lady, senator, secretary of state, and Democratic presidential contender said on CNN: “Unfortunately, so many of those extremists… take their marching orders from Donald Trump, who has no credibility left by any measure.”

He simply has himself in mind. He is currently defending himself in both civil and criminal proceedings. And when do they stop supporting him? Because the cult members may eventually need to undergo official deprogramming. However, something must take place.

She criticised ‘MAGA fanatics’ and questioned what it would take for Trump’s most devoted fans to ‘break’ with him while lamenting the prejudices that had crept into the former president’s supporters. Her comments regarding Trump’s followers echoed her statement from 2016 that about half of them might be placed in a “basket of deplorables.” Many members of Clinton’s party afterwards came to regret making the remark as Republicans used it as fodder to energise their supporters.

One of the biggest surprises in US history occurred in 2016 when Trump defeated Clinton in the presidential race. Before falling to Joe Biden in 2020, the millionaire had four erratic years in office. Trump encouraged the fatal attack on Congress on January 6 because he couldn’t accept his defeat. That led to his second impeachment, which he overcame like the first. Although he currently faces 91 criminal accusations, including 17 for election subversion, and several legal threats, he is still the undisputed favourite to challenge Biden once more in 2016.

“Sane Part of Republican Caucus Intimidated”

Therefore, it is evident that there is a reasonable, rational portion of the House Republican Caucus. Clinton said to CNN’s Christiane Amanpour, “But I think they are intimidated,” following a contentious week in Congress that saw the ouster of House Speaker Kevin McCarthy as a result of a petition filed by Florida Representative Matt Gaetz.

She was referring to the group of Republicans that worked with Democrats to prevent a government shutdown by extending funding for 45 days. This action led to McCarthy’s dismissal. Having experienced her husband’s attempted impeachment, the Whitewater investigation, the Benghazi hearings, and her own fierce 2016 campaign, she then contrasted historical political conflicts to more recent ones.

‘I mean, we had very strong partisans in both parties in the past, and we had very bitter battles over all kinds of things, gun control and climate change and the economy and taxes but there wasn’t this little tail of extremism waving, you know, wagging the dog of the Republican Party, as it is today,’ she remarked.

“Have to Defeat Election Deniers”

“I think, sadly, he will be the nominee, and we have to defeat them,” Clinton added. “And we have to defeat those who are the election deniers, as we did and 2020 and [in the midterms of] 2022. And we have to just be smarter about how we are trying to empower the right people inside the Republican party.” Clinton was speaking after Kevin McCarthy who lost his job as speaker of the US House after being forced out by members of his own party due to their support of Donald Trump.

“Trump- an Authoritarian Populist”

In her assessment of Trump, Clinton branded him “an authoritarian populist who really has a grip on the emotional [and] psychological needs and desires of a portion of the population and the base of the Republican party, for whatever combination of reasons.”

She asserted that Republicans “find in him someone who speaks for them and they are adamant they will continue to vote for Trump, attend his rallies, and wear his goods because, for whatever reason, he and his extremely negative, unpleasant type of politics resonate with them.

“Maybe They Don’t Like Migrants”

“Maybe they don’t like migrants. Maybe they don’t like gay people or Black people or the woman who got the promotion at work they didn’t get. Whatever reason.” Trump’s campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again,” which he first used in 2016, according to Clinton, was “a bid for nostalgia, to return to a place when people could be in control of their lives, feel empowered, say what they wanted, and insult anyone got in their way. “And that was really attractive to a significant portion of the Republican base. So it is like a cult and somebody has to break it, break that momentum. And that’s why I believe Joe Biden will defeat them and hopefully then that will be the end and the fever will break.”

Make America Great Again PAC spokesperson Karoline Leavitt criticized Clinton’s remarks and called the suggestion for a “re-education camp.”” Hillary Clinton just confirmed that to be true,” she continued. “President Trump has said countless times that they are only after him because he stands in their way from coming after you.” When Donald Trump is elected as the 47th President of the United States in November 2024, tens of millions of Americans will reject the Democratic Party’s re-education camp plan.

Clinton, who lost to Trump in 2016, discussed the strong “psychological” connection that exists between Trump and many of his fans.”I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and wouldn’t lose any voters, okay?” Trump distinctly remarked in Iowa in 2016.

“Why Is Biden a Hard Choice?”

She projected that Trump would probably be the GOP’s choice for president in 2024, and she thinks President Biden can defeat him once again. “One will wreck our democracy. One violates the law on a regular basis. One appeals to the worst in our collective psyche. The other gets things done,” she said in an interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour. “Why is that a hard choice?”

“GOP Is in an Absolute Hostage Situation”

With its most extremist members, the GOP is in “an absolute hostage situation,” according to Clinton. “[McCarthy] was not continuing to be captive to the far-right extremists. So they toppled him. It was a very small number as you look at the vote. But now we’re reaping the consequences of their misbehavior,” she continued.

Plenty of religious leaders claim to have some form of “divine protection” but not many of them are brave enough to attempt to prove it. One pastor, though, did possess that courage – or stupidity – and he locked himself in a cage of lions to make his point.
