Eric Trump, executive vice president of the Trump Organization, was reportedly behind the value of a Trump property quadrupling.
Seven Springs Development

Former Trump Organization Comptroller Jeffrey McConney has testified in the $250 million civil fraud trial. According to him, Eric was the one responsible for the leap in value of the Seven Springs development in Westchester County.
Eric Trump’s Instructions

McConney said Eric asked him to take into account the value of homes not yet built in order to inflate property values. As such, he included the values of seven yet-to-be-built mansions, each worth $23 million. He did this after a phone call with Eric.
Strategies to Increase Value

Moreover, McConney informed the court that he employed other strategies to increase the value of Trump’s properties, including treating 71 undeveloped units as realized profits and neglecting to account for rent-stabilized apartments when assessing Trump’s Park Avenue property.
A Long Career

McConney started at the Trump Organization in the 1980s and only retired earlier this year. He’s appearing in court as both a witness for the prosecution and the defense. “[Eric] also, by the way, told you that the project was put on hold, right? But you’re still accounting for the profit from those 71 mid-rise units that were put on hold, as if it’s immediately realized as of June 30, 2013, correct?” prosecutor Andrew Amer asked McConney, who answered “yes” to both.
Eric’s Legal Team’s Claim

Previously, Eric’s legal team attempted to defend his phone calls with McConney by claiming he didn’t think the conversations were actually being used to decide how the company’s assets were being calculated.
Engaging in Fraudulent Activities

McConney revealed that he continued to engage in fraudulent activities under the instruction of Allen Weisselberg, the Chief Financial Officer of the Trump Organization. Weisselberg pleaded guilty to charges of tax fraud last year.
The Internet’s Response

News of McConney’s testimony was shared across the internet and people flocked to comment sections to give their views. A lot of people condemned the Trump family and called for all guilty members to be put in prison. This was despite the case being civil.
He Would’ve Gotten Away With It

Others were confused about how nobody noticed the fraud sooner and plenty of people pointed out that if Trump hadn’t been president, he and his associates likely would have continued to get away with it.
Under the Bus

Plenty of commenters referred to Donald Trump’s tendency to throw others under the bus to save himself. “Looks like Eric is the one to go under the bus,” one person said. “Yep, and I bet Daddy cuts off his legal assistance. Daddy needs the money,” another replied.
Donald Trump’s Ego

Another individual wrote: “They’ve been doing this kind of stuff for 50 years. They’ve avoided being caught for this long but Daddy’s ego was so fragile that he got addicted to the limelight and didn’t want to leave it. This is how mobsters and drug lords always get caught. They always want more.”
A Business Based on Chronic Fraud

Echoing the aforementioned commenter, another person said: “Trump could have kept the grift going indefinitely if he hadn’t run for president. Suddenly he became subject to the same scrutiny all presidential candidates are and it became clear his so-called business was based on chronic fraud.”
Prison for the Trumps

Some people called for Eric and his siblings to be incarcerated along with their father. “Would love to see the Trump scum kids get locked up too. They knew things and kept it a secret,” one individual said.
Not Limited to the Trumps

Others were confused about the entire situation. One person wrote: “So they just let businesses report their own ‘assessment’ of their property values without any need to provide proof? I know the Trumps are horrible and I’m rooting for their complete and utter downfall but I’d be absolutely shocked if this practice was limited to them. If it’s self-reported, what does the government expect if they never actually look into it?”
Only Donald Trump

Others condemned Trump for letting his kids take the fall. One commenter said: “The sad part is they will do anything to be in or stay in their father’s favor. What kind of father would let their child go down for his misdeeds? Only Trump.”
So Blatantly Guilty

Another individual wrote: “Trump is so blatantly guilty. I do not understand how the MAGA cult continues to defend him. Seriously, just look at the facts. The entire situation is absolutely outrageous.”
When Will the Insanity End?

Echoing the aforementioned commenter, another person said: “Look, I’m not going to pretend to understand all the laws about this. Not at all. But how on Earth are there still people defending the Trumps? When will this insanity end?”
The Motive to Lend

Plenty of people questioned why the evaluations weren’t looked into at the time. “What is the motive for the bank to lend money on such fraudulent evaluations? Surely they would look into what was on the property?” one person commented.
“Weaselberg” Took the Fall

Another individual said: “This trial is only civil. I believe the criminal trial for tax evasion already happened earlier this year and Weaselberg took the fall for Trump and was the only one sentenced. So, can any lawyers tell me, with these revelations, is there any chance that further criminal charges could now be raised against Eric or Trump?”
