As presidential insiders attempted to pin the dog’s violent behavior on Secret Service officers, fresh images have emerged showing Joe Biden’s German Shepherd, Commander, attacking another White House employee.
Commander Triggered by “Unfriendly Expressions”

On Monday, White House insiders said that Commander singles out the president’s security detail due to their “unfriendly expressions.” A Secret Service Uniformed Division policeman was bitten by a First Family pet on September 25th at about 8 o’clock. The officer was attended to by medical staff on the compound, according to a statement from USSS Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi to CNN.
First Family Continues to Help Commander

In response to the occurrences, White House officials stated in July that the Bidens were implementing new training and leash procedures for the family pet. The first lady’s communications director, Elizabeth Alexander, responded in a statement when asked by CNN if the new training had taken place or if any further action would be sought, saying that “the First Family continues to work on ways to help Commander handle the often unpredictable nature of the White House grounds.”
Secret Service Agent Hospitalised

U.S. Secret Service emails obtained by Judicial Watch in July described 10 incidents of the German Shepherd biting people in a four-month period. One incident resulted in a Secret Service agent being transported to a hospital after receiving treatment from White House medical personnel.
Major Re-Homed in Delaware

Major, the oldest dog of the First Family and a five-year-old German Shepherd rescue from a Delaware shelter, was taken from the White House following a succession of hostile episodes in which he bit Secret Service and National Park Service personnel. Major was later placed with friends in Delaware by the Bidens, who said that he was naturally a “sweet dog” and attributed his aggressive behaviour to the “stress” of living at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
“Only a Matter of Time Before an Agent/Officer Is Attacked”

White House officials mentioned in July that they were working on new training and leashing protocols for Commander in response to the previous incidents. In the October incident, a staff member warned, “I believe it’s only a matter of time before an agent/officer is attacked or bit.” Jonathan Wackrow emphasized that the issue was not just a Secret Service concern but also a workplace safety issue. He expressed concern about bringing a hazard into the workplace and highlighted the significance of the problem with multiple incidents.
“That’s a Big Dog to Be Behaving Like That”

The story was corrected to identify the USSS official who spoke with the injured officer as Secret Service Uniformed Division Chief Alfonso M. Dyson Sr. It also included a statement from the first lady’s communications director. Additionally, despite White House insiders’ accusations that “everyone loves” Commander because he is “always so friendly,” the victim in this incident was a groundskeeper rather than a member of the president’s security detail who carried a pistol. The witness said, “Perhaps it was meant as a playful nip but that’s a big dog to be behaving like that. To me that’s a bite.”
Pictures Clicked of the Dog Biting Groundskeeper

Commander, who was a birthday gift to the president from James and Sara Biden his brother and sister-in-law, first came to the White House on December 20, 2021. There are pictures of the dog biting Haney, the groundskeeper of the White House, who was sporting a lanyard, on his arm in the White House gardens on September 13. The visitor in the White House souvenir store managed to snap the incident unknowingly capturing the bite while photographing the dog.
“Commander’s Teeth Quite Clearly Round the Man’s Wrist and Arm”

The anonymous visitor recounted, “I was really just wanting to take pictures of the dog, it’s the next best thing to seeing the president after all. Commander was bouncing around. He seemed very lively, high spirited and playful. He’s a good-looking dog. I only realized he had actually bitten the groundskeeper who was out there with him later when I saw the picture with his teeth quite clearly round the man’s wrist and arm.”
