Former Attorney General Bill Barr has criticized Trump’s “limited” vocabulary.
Trump’s Controversial Comments
Barr made the comments at an event for Harvard’s Institute of Politics. Jan Crawford, CBS’ chief correspondent, asked him for his thoughts on Trump’s controversial comments about Iran-backed Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah. The former president had referred to the group as “very smart.”
Trump’s Limited Verbal Skills
“That was appalling. I mean, do you think he’s… is he losing it?” Crawford asked. Barr’s response was scathing. He said: “His verbal skills are limited and so he, you know, if you get him away from ‘very, very, very,’ the adjectives sort of… they’re unfamiliar to him and they sort of spill out and he goes too far. You know, he’s not very disciplined when it comes to what he says.”
A Healthy Dose of Backlash
The incident being discussed happened in Florida and quickly garnered a healthy dose of backlash. People compared the former president’s remarks to those made by Vladimir Putin, Kim Jong Un, and Xi Jinping. Barr went on to describe Trump as “very petty” and claimed he’s only running for president again to seek “retribution.”
Trump Doesn’t Care
Trump doesn’t seem to care about the heavy criticism being launched at him from what seems like every direction. Reportedly, he recently held a fundraiser that brought in around $6 million. The former president spoke at the event for an hour and a half and allegedly spent that time criticizing Joe Biden and Ron DeSantis.
On Top of the World
Given his 91 criminal charges, Trump is undoubtedly under a huge amount of pressure. Despite this, an insider reportedly said: “Trump’s in Trump Tower, unfazed and happy. He’s acting like nothing’s wrong. He’s projecting strength and seems on top of the world, not nervous or anxious.”
A Trump Temper Tantrum
This evidently isn’t the case all the time though, given that the former president recently stormed out of court in New York City. The tantrum occurred after Michael Cohen was asked whether the former president explicitly asked him to lie about the value of his assets.
A Direct Verdict
Cohen’s answers were reportedly inconsistent and the former president’s legal team requested a “direct verdict” in the defendant’s favor. The request was denied, triggering Trump’s hissy fit. “I’m leaving,” he said before storming out. Defending his actions to reporters, he claimed: “The witness just admitted that we won the trial. The judge should end this trial immediately.”

News of Barr’s criticism was shared across the internet and people rushed to comment sections to give their opinions. For the most part, they agreed with him – but some had some harsh words for the former attorney general too.

One social media commenter said: “It’s scary to get confirmation of how shallow Trump really is! Smart and accomplished folks could dupe Trump into doing anything without realizing the danger he would expose the country to!”
Trump’s Limited Intelligence
Lots of people said the former president has both a limited vocabulary and limited intelligence. One such individual wrote: “Besides being the most morally bankrupt piece of human garbage in American history, Trump is just plain dumb.”
A Fourth Grade Reading Level
Others compared Trump’s reading level to that of a child: “Using content analysis of speeches, Trump has a fourth grade reading level. Based on other data, estimates are an IQ of 89, which is below average.”
“Stable Genius” Trump
Another person said: “Trump has a low IQ, [which is] why he projects this on his opponents. Folks who are really smart don’t talk about how they are a ‘stable genius’ and folks who are rich don’t talk about how rich they are.”
Party Before Country
Others were harsher with their words: “Trump is a malignant narcissist imbecile. But Republicans would have nominated Charles Manson if it would obstruct Democrats. That is the sad truth about the GOP. Party before country.”
Trump’s Easy Tells
As well as having a poor vocabulary and lacking intelligence, one commenter said the former president is a terrible liar: “Trump has very easy tells! One of them is the more he brags something up, the more he is lying. As an example, when he passed a useless policy he would go on and on and on about how it was the greatest ever. When [he was talking about] a decent or good policy, he wouldn’t brag nearly as much.”
Like a Child
Plenty of people compared Trump to a child. One person said: “Trump really is one of the most unintelligent people I’ve ever seen in politics. He operates on a low level of vocabulary and his attention span is like a child’s.”
Paying Others to Take College Tests
Others thought Barr’s comments went without saying. One such individual wrote: “What do you expect from a guy who paid somebody to take his tests for him in college? Just ask his sister. She was the one who told everyone.”
Trump’s Loyal Lap Dog
Quite a few people turned the criticism to Barr. One individual said: “I like that he jabs at Trump to try and provoke a reaction from him. But I’ve not forgotten what he was. He was Trump’s loyal lap dog and was complicit in the terrible things Trump did during his presidency.”
A Useful Idiot
Echoing the aforementioned commenter, another person wrote: “And yet, Billy, those limited verbal skills were of no concern to you because he was a useful idiot who could be used to steer the country into becoming the Dominionist Theocracy you’ve dreamed of making it. Get lost, you crook.”
