Vice President Kamala Harris told CBS News that despite criticism from Republicans and worries from some Democrats over the president’s age, she and President Biden will win a second term in office.
“There’s Too Much at Stake”
“We will win reelection. There’s too much at stake and the American people know it,” Harris said to Margaret Brennan, chief foreign affairs reporter for CBS News and moderator of “Face the Nation.” Harris, who is fifty-eight, and Biden, who is aiming to win the presidency the year before he becomes eighty-two, both stated that they are prepared to take on the position of commander in chief “if necessary,” but that they think Biden “is going to be fine.”

I think the American people, most of all, want a leader who actually gets things done.” During her third journey to Southeast Asia as vice president, Harris talked with CBS News from Jakarta, Indonesia, where she was present at a gathering of Southeast Asian nations. “It is very clear that Russia has clearly — they’re very desperate. They have already experienced a strategic failure,” she remarked. Referring to Russia’s conflict in Ukraine, Harris stated, “Just think about it. At the beginning of it all a year and a half ago, the pundits were saying that this would be over in days.” “Well, the Ukrainians are still fighting.”
Yet Dems Unhappy With Notion of Harris Taking Over
