“Donald’s Cognitive Impairment Is Ten Times Worse Than Biden’s”: Trump Forgets the Difference Between Acres and Square Miles

“Real estate guy” Donald Trump doesn’t know the difference between acres and square miles, according to the new book “Romney: A Reckoning.”

A Call From the President

In 2018, Mitt Romney told the country that he’d be running as a Utah senator. Shortly after his announcement, then-President Donald Trump called him, likely seeing potential value in befriending the former Republican presidential nominee.

According to McKay Coppins’ “Romney: A Reckoning,” Trump boasted about his victory in the state and claimed to be “loved by the people of Utah.” According to the now-criminal defendant, they liked him so much because of his policies surrounding land.

Trump’s Land Policies

Trump had decreased the size of the Bears Ears National Monument by 85% – around 1.1 million acres. Moreover, he’d cut the size of the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument by 45% – around 800,000 acres.

An Optimistic Claim

But the now-criminal defendant’s claim about being “loved by the people of Utah” might have been a little optimistic. While Republicans praised the decision, Native American tribes were overwhelmingly critical of the change.

Acres and Square Miles

During the phone call, Trump claimed to have given Utah “two million square miles of land.” Romney immediately caught onto the fact that the then-president had mixed up acres and square miles – but he didn’t say anything. “Two million square miles would be, like, half the country,” he later said.

Holding Back Laughter

According to Coppins’ book, Romney and a campaign aide had to hold back laughter regarding the gaffe. Utah is the 13th largest state in the country – but it’s only 85,000 square miles, making Trump’s claim impossible. The biggest state, Alaska, is around 665,000 square miles – nowhere near two million.

A Real Estate Guy

Trump later said he was a “real estate guy” who understood metrics well. “I know the difference between acres and square miles. This was square miles,” he stubbornly claimed in his defense.

A Complex Relationship

In 2019, Romney joined the Senate and his relationship with Trump became a little more complex. In the former president’s first impeachment trial, Romney voted to convict him. Moreover, he went on to vote to convict him of “incitement of insurrection” after the Jan 6th Capitol attack.

The Internet’s Response

News of Trump’s mistake was shared across the internet and people flocked to comment sections to give their views. For the most part, they expressed concerns regarding his intelligence and mental competence.

Trump’s Cognitive Abilities

Quite a few people expressed concerns about Trump’s cognitive abilities. One such commenter wrote: “Another sign of mental collapse. First, he thought he won against Obama. Then he thought World War II was about to begin. Now this. “

The Hypocrisy of MAGA Republicans

Others called out hypocrisy among MAGA Republicans: “Whenever Biden misspeaks on something, Trumpers go crazy with their attacks. When Trump shows his profound ignorance on just about everything, they think it’s cute.”

Everything West of the Mississippi

Another person said: “Trump returned two million square miles to Utah? That’s, like, everything west of the Mississippi. I hope someone told Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, and the others that they are now part of Utah.”

A Real Estate Opinion

Individuals with real estate backgrounds weighed in too. One wrote: “Having been in real estate my whole life, I can testify that about 90% of the U.S. population doesn’t know the difference between acres and square miles.”

Lazy, Poser, Sad

Another commenter said: “A man in real estate who can’t keep this straight is nothing but a poser. He is a poser with lawyers who do all the real thinking. Sad. Laziness is more of a problem than Biden’s age could ever be in the presidency.”

Trump Knows Nothing

Others pointed to the former president’s fraudulent activity: “He doesn’t know the difference between a square and a rectangle! Look at all the fraud! Anytime you try to say a room is 30,000 square feet and it’s only 10,000 square feet, you don’t know a thing about numbers!”

Trump’s Limited Vocabulary

One person pointed to Trump’s seemingly limited vocabulary: “Trump has a massive problem articulating his thoughts. Either he is an imbecile or has a very limited vocabulary – either case is bad. He is clearly a man suffering cognitive impairment.”

Not That Bright

Others said the former president isn’t very intelligent. One such commenter wrote: “Honestly people, Trump is just not that bright. Had it not been for his rich father, Trump would be lucky to hold down a [minimum wage] job.”

Both Terrible Choices

Plenty of people compared the criminal defendant to Joe Biden. “Donald’s cognitive impairment is ten times worse than Biden’s. They’re both terrible choices but I’ll never understand all the focus on Biden’s mental state when Trump is right there,” one person said.
