“I Was Never Indicted”: Trump Forgets He Was Indicted, Compares Himself to Nelson Mandela, and Tells His Supporters Not to Vote

Criminal defendant Donald Trump has said his supporters “don’t have to vote” and that they should “watch” other voters instead. He also compared himself to Nelson Mandela.

Trump made the comments at a New Hampshire rally. “So we have to be careful. You gotta get out there and you got to watch those voters. You don’t have to vote. Don’t worry about voting. The voting, we got plenty of votes – you gotta watch,” the former president said.

A Debunked Claim

Trump was likely alluding to the debunked claim that the 2020 election was stolen from him, a common talking point in his campaign. In his speech, he also criticized the current voting requirements and called for more measures to prevent fraud.

The Previous Elections

In both 2016 and 2020, the now-criminal defendant successfully secured the GOP nomination in New Hampshire. Regardless, he lost the state to Clinton, and then to Biden, when it came to election day.

Comment From Trump

Trump was asked to comment on his remarks about watching voters instead of voting. Speaking to Insider, a spokesperson said: “He was clearly talking about election integrity and making sure only legal votes are counted and not letting what happened in 2020 happen again.”

Criticism From DeSantis

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Trump’s closest opponent in the race for the GOP nomination, took to social media to criticize the former president’s remarks. “This is the type of talk that loses elections,” his press secretary wrote.

Trump vs. Mandela

Perhaps even more controversially, Trump went on to compare himself to Nelson Mandela in his speech. He portrayed himself as a victim in his four criminal indictments and 91 criminal charges. “I don’t mind being Nelson Mandela because I’m doing it for a reason,” he said.

A Bizarre Claim

The defendant also denied that he’d been indicted. Speaking to reporters, he said: “This is all Biden stuff, all of these indictments that you see. I was never indicted. You practically never heard the word. It wasn’t a word that registered.”

The Internet Responded

News of Trump’s claim that his supporters don’t need to vote, his delusion that he was never indicted, and his controversial Mandela comparison hit the internet. People rushed to comment sections to share their opinions and, for the most part, they were highly critical.

MAGA Shouldn’t Vote

Plenty of people were in favor of Trump’s supporters not voting. “I wholeheartedly agree! Trump’s supporters should not vote. Don’t waste your time with that nonsense,” one social media commenter said.

Others discussed Trump’s future prison experience: “Whatever prison facility Trump winds up in, state or federal, I hope they have plenty of meds to help Trump manage his delusions and reduce his agitation.”

A Historic Moment

Some people were shocked to find themselves agreeing with the former president for the first time. One person wrote: “This is a historic moment. I agree with him, finally. If he is your candidate, please don’t vote. You are welcome to watch me vote for literally anyone else but him!”

An Ominous Warning

One person left an ominous warning. They said: “Don’t miss the obvious, folks. The red party has had enough of voting and has chosen another method of determining who dictates.  They’ll be watching to see who thinks voting is a good idea.”

A Secret Ballot

Another commenter wrote: “How are they going to watch how others vote? It’s a secret ballot and is done in a booth behind a curtain. The only time I was not alone in a voting booth was in 1984. [I was] helping my blind first wife vote because there were no braille ballots.”

Abandoning Trump’s Delusional Campaign

Others implied that MAGA Republicans will be very disappointed when the results of the presidential election come out: “Anyone still riding this guy’s crazy train is on a trip to disappointment. Get off at this station. Don’t wait for the next one. So many have already left.”

Destroying America’s Faith

One person said Trump single-handedly destroyed America’s belief in the election process. They wrote: “A full year before the 2020 election, Trump was telling his cult that the only way he could lose the election was if it was stolen – and it was proven time and time again that it was not stolen. Now, a full year before the next election, he is telling his cult that the next election is already rigged. Trump has destroyed the faith in our election processes.”

Trump’s Cognitive Decline

Given Trump’s age – 77 – some people pointed out potential cognitive decline. “His cognitive decline and delusional behavior is so obvious and so much more worrying. The media should seriously be pointing out how senile and delusional he is,” one commenter said.

A Life of Crime

Others wished the former president had told his fans not to vote in 2016 too: “I wish he’d told them this in 2016. It would have saved us lots of headaches. But his life of crime would have gone, sadly, unpunished in all likelihood.”

No Need to Vote

One person speculated about Trump’s plans. They said: “Trump does not plan to win the presidency by getting the most votes. His plan is to seize power and hold it until his death.  Many Republicans support that also. No need to vote.”
