“A Sure Sign of Advanced Senility”: Biden Mocked for Claiming He’s “Been to Every Mass Shooting”

President Biden has been mocked and criticized for claiming went “to every mass shooting” during a speech about gun violence.

Liar vs. Forgetful

Biden has become known for his gaffes, which many put down to his age. Recently, he launched an initiative aimed at preventing gun violence – and he claimed to have “been to every mass shooting.” The questionable remark came shortly after he said he’d visited Ground Zero the day after 9/11. Now, people are wondering whether he’s a liar or whether he’s simply an old man with a failing memory.

The speech took place in the White House Rose Garden and Biden said he’d been “working relentlessly to do something” regarding gun violence. “After every mass shooting, we hear a simple message, the same message heard all over the country – and I’ve been to every mass shooting,” he said.

Suspicious if True

This year, there have been more than 500 mass shootings in the U.S. As such, people questioned Biden’s claim about having visited all of them. “Suspicious if true,” Alberto Fernandez, a former U.S.  diplomat, said on social media.

Another Biden Gaffe

The Rose Garden speech came shortly after Karine Jean-Pierre, the White House press secretary, was asked to explain a Biden gaffe in which the POTUS told a story twice. Reportedly, Biden “talked about the events of Charlottesville” when discussing the reasons for his campaign.

Speaking From the Heart

Allegedly, Biden told the aforementioned story again “a few minutes later.” Regarding the matter, Jean-Pierre said: “It’s important to note that the president was speaking from his heart. I’m not going to speak to comments that were made during a campaign event.”

Biden Joked About His Age

During the Rose Garden speech, Biden made jokes about his old age. Maxwell Frost, Congress’ youngest member at just 26, was present. “I remember when I was young. We have something in common. I got elected to the Senate when I was 29 years old. That was 827 years ago but it was a while,” Biden told him.

California, Colorado, and Texas

While visiting every single mass shooting seems like a stretch, Biden is known to have attended several sites in the aftermath of such atrocities, including a dance studio in California and a supermarket in Colorado. He also visited Uvalde, Texas, after 19 elementary school students were killed.

Office of Gun Violence Prevention

The White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention will aim to curb gun violence by “centralizing, accelerating, and intensifying” efforts to do so. “Created by executive order, I determined to send a clear message about how important this issue is to me and to the country. We all want our kids to have the freedom to learn how to read and write instead of duck and cover,” Biden said.

A Generation of Americans

Biden also talked about student movements and quoted students. He said they “spoke to an entire generation of Americans who will not be ignored, who will not be shunned, and will not be silent.”

David Hogg’s Response

In response to the speech, David Hogg – a gun control activist and Parkland shooting survivor – said: “It’s about showing that this is an intergenerational coalition – the fact that President Biden joked about the elephant in the room a little bit, you know, talked about [him being] older. But he did start when he was 29.”

Decades of Experience

Hogg continued: ’’Let’s talk about what comes with age – experience. There’s a reason he’s been the most effective president in our lifetimes and it’s because he’s had decades of experience in the Senate and across the government.”

The Internet’s Response

News of Biden’s questionable claim was shared across the internet and people flocked to comment sections to give their views. While most people were highly critical, some did defend him, claiming that this being the best criticism people can come up with proves his worth as a leader.

Trump and Biden

One social media commenter said: “Let’s remember all the gaffes that Trump made during his one term and he was even younger. Both are too old for the presidency and we need age limits – but the hypocrisy is not necessary!”

The Dementia President

Others speculated about Biden’s health: “Give the Dementia President a break. In his mind, he’s been everywhere and done everything. Isn’t that all that matters? He’s a little fuzzy on the particulars but that’s his story and he’s sticking to it until the next group comes along.”

An Embarrassment Day After Day

Another person wrote: “White House staff, please keep this man hidden and out of the public eye. He continues to be an embarrassment day after day. The country knows he’s not doing his job without the photos and videos to prove it.”

A Character to Mock

Echoing the aforementioned individual, another commenter said: “America can’t allow this man to run for POTUS again. Not only is he bringing embarrassment to the post and the country, [but he is also] becoming a character to mock. It can’t continue.”

A Very Bold Claim

Some people made some very bold claims about criminal defendant Donald Trump. One person wrote: “There’s a real possibility that Joe Biden will drop out of the 2024 presidential race. Democrats don’t have a backup plan because Trump can wipe the floor with Kamala Harris. Very good chance Trump will be elected president.”

Biden and Cognitive Decline

Many commenters addressed Biden’s apparent cognitive decline. These individuals usually neglected to mention Trump’s inability to form coherent sentences. One such individual said: “His lies are coming fast and furious – a sure sign of advanced senility. He presents a clear and present danger to the American people. Someone with such diminished cognitive abilities should not be making decisions that affect millions of Americans.”
