Giuliani made the announcement during a convoluted press conference held in front of a courtroom in New Hampshire, where he had filed the case to make use of the state’s defamation laws. Although he only sued the president, the former mayor repeated some well-known criticisms of Biden and his son Hunter. This is in spite of the high standard required for public figures’ words made in a political context to be deemed defamatory.
