However, this may no longer be the case for very long as local authorities strive to remove the name from structures. A video has surfaced online depicting construction workers eliminating Donald Trump’s name from a New York City apartment building.
Footage Emerges Showing Trump’s Name Being Removed
The footage, viewed over 1.5 million times on TikTok and shared on X (formerly Twitter), exhibits two individuals atop a cherry picker dismantling the former president’s last name from the complex’s side.
Real Estate and Asset Prices Falsely Inflated by Trump
This video came to light shortly after a judge’s ruling, determining that Trump had falsely inflated his property and asset values for years to acquire financial advantages.
Penthouse’s 2015 Valuation Labeled “Absurd”
The lawsuit claims that Mr. Trump falsely represented the size of the triplex as being far greater than the 11,000 square feet recorded in property records, thereby artificially inflating the triplex’s worth.
The complaint referred to the penthouse’s 2015 valuation of $327 million as being “absurd.” “Tripling the size of the apartment for purposes of the valuation was intentional and deliberate fraud,” the lawsuit states. “Not an honest mistake”.
New York Properties Alone Are Worth $720M: Forbes Estimates
The ruling substantially restricts Mr. Trump’s ability to conduct business in New York, where he established the real estate enterprise that propelled him to national prominence. His New York homes alone are reportedly worth $720 million (£589 million), according to a Forbes estimate from earlier this year.
Judge Engoron Mandates Annulment of Trump-Owned Companies
Judge Arthur Engoron, overseeing New York Attorney General Letitia James’ $250 million lawsuit against Trump also decreed the annulment of business certificates for Trump-owned companies, potentially leading to their removal from his control and dissolution.
Request to Postpone Non-jury Trial Turned Down
Two days later, New York’s appellate court at the intermediate level declined Trump’s request for postponement of a non-jury trial pertaining to the remaining facets of the civil case. James alleges in her $250 million civil lawsuit against the former president that The Trump Organization misled insurers, banks, and investors by exaggerating the value of its assets.
Engoro’s Ruling “Fundamentally Flawed”: Trump’s Attorney
Trump has firmly denied any wrongdoing in connection with James’ civil lawsuit and contended, subsequent to Tuesday’s judgment, that the value of his assets included in Engoron’s ruling exceeded the court’s assessment. Trump’s attorney, Alina Habba, previously conveyed that Engoron’s decision was “fundamentally flawed” and that the defense intends to contest the judgment.
“Attack Against Me Has Now Devolved to New, Un-American Depths”
In a Truth Social post on Tuesday, Trump stated, “The widespread, radical attack against me, my family, and my supporters has now devolved to new, un-American depths, at the hands of a DERANGED New York State Judge, doing the bidding of a completely biased and corrupt ‘Prosecutor,’ Letitia James.”
“Highly Politicized Democrat Judge Ruled I Committed Fraud”
He further asserted, “We are rapidly becoming a Communist Country, and my Civil Rights have been taken away from me. A Highly Politicized Democrat Judge simply ruled, despite all of the evidence to the contrary, that I committed fraud, which is both ridiculous and untrue.”
Trump’s Name Removed From City Where Majority Voted Hillary
Despite assertions in social media comments on the video, it is not recent. The video was captured in November 2016, just days after Trump’s electoral victory. In that month, Trump’s name was removed from three apartment buildings in the city, where the majority had voted for Hillary Clinton.
Legal Experts Compare Engoron’s Judgement to ”Corpore Death Penalty”
These buildings had ceased to be owned by The Trump Organization, his real estate company, nearly a decade before their names were changed and signs removed. Although some legal experts have compared Engoron’s judgement to the “corporate death penalty,” it is uncertain if it will result in the closure of Trump’s New York-based enterprises.
Ivanka Mentioned as the Organization’s Former Affiliate
The former president, his two sons involved in the civil lawsuit, and Trump’s eldest daughter, Ivanka Trump, are all on James’ final list of witnesses she plans to summon to the witness stand, which was submitted on Thursday. Ivanka was included as a defendant in James’ case when it was initially filed in September 2022 as executive vice president of The Trump Organisation; she is now identified as a former affiliate of the business.
Residents Petition Removal of “Trump Place” Name From Apartment Buildings
During Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, residents collectively petitioned for the removal of the “Trump Place” name from the apartment complexes due to their discontent with the Republican candidate. Linda Gottleib, a resident, expressed, “We felt we had to do something, so this was a small protest.”

Aaron Bollman, a long-term resident, shared his perspective, stating, “This sign never really meant anything to me from the day I signed my lease. Obviously, it has a different meaning to me now.” He further added, “I was really hoping that he would lose… would just go away. But that is not the case.”

Regarding the petition, Bollman said, “I didn’t see the link for the petition, I did not sign the petition. I cannot claim for the success of this, but I certainly support it. I think it was a good idea. I can see how it works as a business decision, as well as pleasing some upset residents.”
“Trump Place” Name Removal Extended to States Beyond NYC
The “Trump Place” name removal extended to other New York towers in 2018 and 2019. Following the January 6 attack, in which Trump faced accusations of incitement, initiatives were initiated to alter names and disassociate Trump from buildings and apartment complexes. Plans were also made to rename and eliminate links with Trump from buildings and apartment complexes in Florida, Connecticut, and Westchester, a suburb of New York.
