Former US representative Adam Kinzinger suggests that former President Donald Trump may be “literally losing his mind” after US prosecutors flagged a threatening post to a Washinton Judge in August.
He’s Actually Going Insane
The comments were made in an interview with Anderson Cooper.
“I don’t mean that metaphorically. I think he’s actually going insane,” stated Kinzinger. “Someone’s going to have to take action, I think”.
Intimidating Witnesses and Disclosing Confidential Evidence
Donald Trump has been accused of using his social media platform “Truth Social” to share inappropriate posts that may be construed as a way to intimidate witnesses and disclose confidential evidence.
In August, Trump posted, “If you go after me, I’m coming after you!”
Definition of Political Speech
A Trump spokesperson stated that the post was the “definition of political speech” and was made in response to “dishonest special interest groups and super PACs.”
Fear That Action Will Be Taken Over Posts
Kinzinger refused to believe Trump’s post was just political speech, saying, “There are people out there that are going to take that seriously and go to take action.”
He’s Really Good, and He’s Practiced This Over Decades
During the interview, Kinzingerr also described how Trump’s social media posts usually have double meanings.
“He’s really good, and he’s practiced this over decades, of like, saying something but in a way of somehow conceivably, at least with a straight face, argue that you mean something else. You see that through his whole life, his whole career”.
Angry Posts Are Nothing New
Posting angry statements seems to be a habit for the former President. However, these outbursts lead people to question the seriousness of his words and how they will affect his followers and those targeted.

“Of course, he was sitting around angry, tweeted that out, he’s mad…” said Kinzinger when questioned about Trump’s posts.

The former US Representative reiterated how serious the issue is and how Trump’s followers had a way of taking what had been said literally. He was also concerned about the number of people who had raised the issue with him.
People Are Concerned for Their Own Safety
“I had a number of them, you know, reaching out to me in my office saying that, you know, if Donald Trump said something bad at me, that they’re taking that literally, and they’re going to come after me and my 18-month old kid,” explained Kinzinger.

During the same interview, Cooper asked if any candidate was running against him who could take Trump to task.
Kinzinger responded, “Nobody is,” saying the reason for this was not to make any of Trump’s followers mad.

He went on to say many of the candidates running against Trump were “…not willing to take on one of the weaker men in existence, Donald Trump…”
