“He’ll Lose Big Time”: Conservative Writer Claims Trump Will Need “Act of God” to Beat Biden in 2024

Conservative writer Matt Lewis issued a cautionary message to the Republican Party, emphasizing that their steadfast commitment to nominating Donald Trump might ultimately result in an inevitable loss.

Lewis emphasized the importance of remembering Trump’s surprising victory in 2016 while casting doubt on the assertion that he could triumph over Joe Biden in a future election. The writer cited data indicating that a substantial 53% of Americans hold a firm stance against supporting the former president if he were to secure the nomination once again.

Voters Are Leaning Away From Trump

If the data is correct, it leaves Trump with only 47% of the electorate open to persuasion. Adding to the gravity of the situation, Lewis highlighted that an additional 11% of respondents didn’t think they’d support Trump in the 2024 election. The data paints a scenario in which a substantial 64% of voters are leaning away from the former president.

Growing Skepticism Among Republicans

Lewis discussed the growing skepticism among Republicans toward mainstream media and its polling. Despite Trump’s past electoral setbacks, a lingering perception persists that he could replicate his 2016 victory, coupled with a widespread belief that media bias remains against him.

Electability vs. Shared Values

The writer went on to acknowledge that even if Trump supporters recognise his electability challenges, their loyalty is likely rooted in shared ideological values. Citing polling data, Lewis disclosed that a significant 65% of respondents prioritize shared values over electability when choosing a candidate.

An Act of God vs. Political Persuasion

Lewis proposed the idea that an external event, perhaps comparable to an “act of God,” could disrupt the anticipated Trump vs. Biden rematch. He said: “It’s possible that some external event will prevent another Donald Trump vs. Joe Biden matchup. But for that to happen, it will probably take an act of God, not an act of political persuasion.”

The Republican Party’s Dire State

Former conservative judge Michael Luttig echoed the concerns, offering an even graver perspective on the state of the Republican Party. He said: “Today, in my view, there is no Republican Party to counter the Democratic Party in the country and, for that reason, American democracy is in grave peril. Until or unless the Republican Party can pull itself together into a credible political party, we don’t have two competing parties in America.”

The Internet Responded

News of Lewis’ concerns was shared across the internet and people rushed to comment sections to voice their thoughts. “In 2020, he lost by 70 million votes. Imagine now, after all of his crimes are now out in the open. I say run again. He’ll lose big time,” one person wrote.

Some People Disagreed

A minority of people disagreed with Lewis and the aforementioned commenter. “Trump will win again. The shenanigans from the last election won’t work again because we’re alert to the ploy,” one person wrote. “He is above God. He is the president of retribution,” another added.

A Second Election Loss

Some people wondered what Trump’s reaction to a second election loss would be like. “Trump couldn’t handle losing in 2020. How’s he going to handle losing in 2024?” one person asked. “Wait [until] he finds out McDonald’s isn’t served in prison,” another responded humorously.

Echoing the aforementioned commenters, some people expressed worry in regard to Trump’’s potential reaction to a second election loss. “The orange traitor will lose again and claim [another] rigged election. This will be a replay of 2020 if he isn’t in prison,” one person wrote. “Of course, he’ll lose. I’m worried about his reaction to that loss. Hopefully, we don’t even get that far and he’s in jail by then,” another echoed.

No Republican Can Beat Biden

Some commenters claimed no Republican, let alone Trump, would be able to beat Biden. One such individual wrote: “The fact that conservative and religious Republicans continue to ignore this reality is sad. If they think the public hates Biden more than they do Trump, they’ve simply closed their eyes. None of the other contenders can beat him either for one reason – abortion.”

God Doesn’t Like Trump

Some commenters took Lewis’ words literally and claimed God would never assist Trump. “Well, God doesn’t like Trump much so He’s not gonna help out. Biden wins and receives the Pope’s blessing,” one person wrote, likely referring to Lewis’ comment about a potential “act of God” and Trump’s habit of embodying everything Jesus was against.
